Hugh Hamilton The Drama Queen Sparkling 750ml

Every winery needs an attention seeking, exaggerated, overly emotional, dramatic, diva. Sometimes it’s the winemaker, sometimes the boss, or sometimes a family member! Fortunately not here, so we had to create one.
Often balance takes blending; Pinot Noir adds richness fullness and weight, Chardonnay a bright and lively acidity and Pinot Meunier that little touch of strawberry. Almost always, quality requires patience; In this case, 5 years in bottle on lees before we could even think of popping a cork. It has been worth the wait.

Tasting Notes

The Drama Queen shows her class with a very fine, long lasting bead and a creamy and vibrant mousse. These are her jewels. Her couture is the easy richness of the Chardonnay and the opulence given by the Pinot. Refined lift of fruit, brioche, baking soda, andvanilla. A full palate with a heart of strawberry and cherry-stone, and just a dusting of marzipan. Phenomenally lingering and intense. The DQ is a complex character which makes her all the more memorable.
